Some of us have things in our lives that we still hold on tightly to which stunt our growth in Christ. It could be doubt, anxiety, self-pity or secret sins. It is something that you find yourself repeatedly doing in moments of weakness and especially when you are alone, by yourself.
Matthew 19:16-22 – This young rich man had done all the right things that society and religion expected of people. Jesus pinpointed the one thing which he held back – money.
John 4:15-19 – Jesus pinpointed her need for companionship. She tried to derail his revelation by changing the conversation to one about religious principles. How many of us walk around with emotional wounds in our lives and cover it up by being ‘super spiritual’?
John 5:2-7 – Jesus offered to heal him, but he almost missed his healing by playing the victim. Something he had formed the habit of doing for 38 years. How many of us have been too busy throwing pity parties for ourselves and let opportunities slip by us?
Christianity and life in general is a choice. You can choose to walk away and keep holding on to the baggage like the young rich man did (Matthew 19:22) or you can choose to not ignore it any longer and fully submit it to the Lord and trust that God can satisfy that need or heal the pain or deliver you from whatever it is you may be struggling with.
John 5:14 - After you have laid it at the cross, make every effort not to go back to that place of pain, not to dwell on your past hurts, not to allow fear take over your mind. Remember we have a High Priest who intercedes on our behalf (Hebrews 6:17-20). Call on His name, plead the blood and speak your testimony (Rev 12:11; Heb 10:23)
