How many of us understand what it means to "wait"? No, not wait for 5 seconds...or 5 minutes...or 5 years...
But wait for the promise. Whenever God promises something, you can be assured that He will do it. However, there is an appointed time, and we all need to wait for it.
Last week on TERC, LaPorchia encouraged everyone to wait for God's perfect time. LISTEN TO THE PODCAST...

Strengthening Your Faith (A TERC Podcast)
Tuesday, November 22, 2011
Presented by Muyiwa on Friday, November 18th, 2011.
Below is a short summary, and after that the actual podcast:
Dear friends, Satan's #1 target is your faith.
Have you ever noticed that to grow your muscles you need to put distress on it? That's what this conference was all about. Strengthening our faith can be rightly compared to strengthening our muscles.
- Our Christian walk can be compared to a battle field, not a bed of roses. 2 Timothy 2:3 "You, therefore, must endure hardship as a good soldier of Christ."
- Just as you can separate the wheat from chaff, Satan wants to sift you from your faith. Luke 22:31-32, "And the Lord said, "Simon, Simon, indeed Satan has asked for you that he may sift you as wheat, but I have prayed for you that your faith should not fail."
- When you feel the impact of a fiery trial, don't give up. Use the opportunity to strengthen your faith. 1 Peter 4:12, "Do not think of it strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened to you..."

The Red Sea & Pharaoh Effect
Sunday, November 13, 2011
Presented by Yewande on November 11, 2011.
A Summary of The Transcript:
This TERC Conference was divided into series of points and prayer points.
1. The Raising of Moses:
In Exodus 3:9-10, we see that God specifically raised up Moses, from the day he was born, to be the one to bring the Israelites out of bondage.
Prayer Point: God will raise up your own Moses to deliver you out of whatever you are going through.
2. The Hardening of Pharaoh's Heart: In Exodus 4:21 & Exodus 5:6-9, we see that God hardened Pharaoh's heart. In fact, Pharaoh increased the hardship by making the Israelites look for their own materials to build (they were being supplied with materials before, but Pharaoh put a halt to their supplies).
Prayer Point: God will silence every Pharaoh who is trying to make your task impossible.
3. God has His Perfect Timing: Between Exodus 11:9 to Exodus 14, we see that many plagues happened, but Pharaoh's heart remained hardened till the last plague. When Pharaoh eventually let the children of Israel go, it wasn't because of the plagues, but because God saw that it was time. God has His perfect timing, and His timing is the best. Whatever you're going through, He can turn your situation around in a swift second.
Prayer Point: Every Pharaoh standing between you and your promise land, through a hardening of his or her heart, God's miracles will be multiplied. Also that God should turn your situation around in His perfect time.
4. God Allows Events So That His Name Will Be Glorified: One of the reasons Pharaoh's heart was hardened was so that God's wonders would be multiplied in all of Israel.
Prayer Point: That your enemies would acknowledge the power of God in your life, and that they would come to the knowledge of the Lord and accept Jesus as their Savior.
5. Even After Your Victory Hold on to God: After he let the Israelites go, Pharaoh decided he'd made a mistake and sent an army to chase the children of Israel. After your victory, you need to hold on to God even more because the enemy is ready to pursue.
6. The Enemy Cannot Win Against the Children of God: In Exodus 14:19-28, we see that as the chase pressed forward, God protected his children. First, he went before them as a pillar of cloud by day and pillar of fire by night (shielding them from the Egyptians). Second, He created a way of escape by parting the red sea so the Israelites walked through on dry ground. Third, He caused confusion in the enemy's camp. Lastly, all the armies of Pharaoh were drowned after they attempted to follow Israel through the path in-between the red sea.
Prayer Point: For patience. The breakthrough for the children of Israel did not come immediately. They had to endure till the very end. May we persevere till the very end. Also, that God will arise and throw confusion into the camp of the enemy. That He will contend with those who contend with you.
Conclusion:
The Red Sea represents that distance between you and your promise land (breakthrough, deliverance, Canaan). Pharaoh represents the enemy (those who don't want you to see your Canaan). But for every red sea, there will always be a Moses to part it. For every wall of Jericho, there's always a Joshua to bring it down. For every Goliath, there is always a David to conquer him. Therefore, for every problem you are facing, no matter how difficult, God will always provide a solution as far as you're a child of God.

Fulfilling Your Ministry
Sunday, November 6, 2011
Presented by Dosh
A Quick Summary of the Transcript:
The main focus in the church should be the Word of God and Salvation. These days, there are so many distractions in churches which can come in the form of church activities and charities. Old school ministries had their focus mainly on the Word of God, but it isn't the same in this generation's churches. How can we get back to those days? How can we fulfill our ministries and eliminate distractions in today's society?
Listen to Dosh and be blessed as she encourages all of us to "Fulfill Our Ministries."

The Waiting Room
Wednesday, October 26, 2011
[See attached Audio/Podcast below]
1 AND ALL the congregation cried out with a loud voice, and [they] wept that night.
2 All the Israelites grumbled and deplored their situation, accusing Moses and Aaron, to whom the whole congregation said, Would that we had died in Egypt! Or that we had died in this wilderness!
3 Why does the Lord bring us to this land to fall by the sword? Our wives and little ones will be a prey. Is it not better for us to return to Egypt?
Numbers 14:1-3
The children of Israel got scared after hearing the reports of the spies who were sent to Canaan to scope out the land. While reading this passage during my personal Bible study, the thought occurred to me that if I were in their shoes I won't say let's go back to Egypt but instead I would set up camp right outside Canaan and be content with the fact that I almost made it. In addition, recently I've had a few conversations with friends recently where I kept hearing phrases like I'm bored or I'm waiting on God's promise concerning an area in my life or I don't know what's next in life for me.
It sounds like the modern day version of Numbers 14:1-3 where people are stuck just outside of Canaan, in a waiting room and are not moving forward or going backward.
How come?
Some of us are leaning on excuses. In the story of the lame man by the pool in Bethesda, in John 5:1-9, with emphasis on verse 7: The invalid answered, Sir, I have nobody when the water is moving to put me into the pool; but while I am trying to come [into it] myself, somebody else steps down ahead of me.
Notice how he had a pre-packaged excuse ready to give Jesus when asked if he wanted to be healed. For someone who had stayed in the same spot for almost 40 years, one can almost deduce that he must have told this story to so many different people to be able to garner pity to get food, clothing and shelter.
If you don't know what next and your excuse is that you haven't gotten direction from God about what next, be persistent in seeking His face. See Luke 18:1-8 with special emphasis on verses 7 and 8:
7 And will not [our just] God defend and protect and avenge His elect (His chosen ones), who cry to Him day and night? Will He [a]defer them and [b]delay help on their behalf?
8 I tell you, He will defend and protect and avenge them speedily. However, when the Son of Man comes, will He find [[c]persistence in] faith on the earth?
It could also be that we may have given up hope. A classic example is the response Martha gave to Jesus when she told him that Lazarus was dead in John 11:21-24. Especially as Christians, we try to explain away our disappointment in what I like to call christian-speak. But the good news is no matter how dead the situation seems to be, no matter how long you think you've been cooped up in the waiting room, the hope can be resurrected.
Most important of all is fear. Fear can keep you rooted in one spot. Too afraid to turn back but afraid of what is ahead. Of course we know that God has not given us the spirit of fear but of lover, power and sound mind. But in addition to that, we should pray that God opens our eyes to see from His perspective. (2 Kings 6:8-17)

The Shield of Faith (A New TERC Podcast + Updates)

This is a summary of the message from this past Friday:
Lesson #2: Protection While Standing- Sometimes, all we need to do is stand firm. A battle is not just about progressing forward and shooting the enemy. In parts of the battle, when you can't press forward, it is advisable that you don't turn back either. All you can do at that time is to "stand," until you receive the order to move forward again. In those moments of "standing," the shield of faith is our protection. (Ephesians 6:13, "Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able towithstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.") The Greek word for "withstand" here is Anthistemi which means "to resist or oppose." The word "stand" is the Greek word "histemi" which means to "come to a halt," "remain still or fixed," "be established," "stand upright." The fact that we remain fixated at one point does not mean that the shield of faith was removed from before us. It is still right there in front of us, protecting us.
Lesson #3: Overlapping of Shields- Our shields of faith joined together is a powerful force against the enemy. A team is only as strong as the weakest link. One shield is not just for the defense of one soldier. It's for the defense of the soldiers standing right next to him, and greater than that the entire nation. (Reference-The Body of Christ: Romans 12:3-8 and 1 Corinthians 12:20-22)
Lesson #4: Quenching Fiery Darts- The Bible says the shield of faith quenches all the fiery darts of the wicked one. We are in constant battle with the wicked one, even when we think we are not fighting, he's constantly throwing arrows at us, and not just ordinary arrows but arrows with fire that can ravage our bodies and spirits. Lies, doubts, arguments that exalt themselves above God, erroneous mainstream cultures and traditions. But the shield of faith is our protection. When the arrows come, it effortlessly quenches these fires and performs the functions of protecting us.
Lesson #5: Protects Our Minds- When the shield is raised up, it protects our heads (the seat of reasoning). 2 Corinthians 4-5, "For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ." Our minds are intelligent because they were created after the image of an intelligent God. But often, we want to prove that we know more than the One who created us to know. Pride sets in, and then we realize that we can't exalt ourselves against the knowledge of God. He is all knowing, and the depths of His knowledge are beyond human reasoning. The shield of faith protects our human reasoning.
Lesson #6: Protects Our Hearts- When the shield is in front of us, it protects our hearts (the seat of emotions). Proverbs 4:23, "Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it spring the issues of life."

Choices and Doing Things in Order
Tuesday, March 22, 2011
Presented by Chinenye Aneke
So, we know that God is merciful and He gives us many second chances to get it right. But there are sometimes when things will just not add up or go as you expected because you are not following explicitly the plan God has laid out for your life. God is a God of order and until you take corrective action things will not align properly. Jaycee alluded to that last week when she talked about unforgiveness obstructing our passion for God.
Look at the lives of Saul, David and even Solomon. In 1 Samuel 15, God instructed Saul and how he should handle the battle with the Amalekites but because he was anxious and wanted to show he was boss, he didn't kill the Amalekite King and kept the best of the spoil. Read 1 Samuel 15: 11. Insecurity and anxiety is rooted in not trusting God, which is why we take matters into our own hands, or go after what we think is the bigger prize.

Burn...
Wednesday, March 16, 2011
Have you ever gotten to a point with God where you completely dote over Him? The praise of His name literally exhilarates you and the desire for Him consumes you.
Throughout the Bible, the one practitioner who truly embodies this emotion was David; he further described in Psalm 42 vs. 1, "As the deer pants for the water brooks, So my soul pants for you O’ God.” It is simply a delightful feeling to truly be in Love with God and passionately desire Him.

How God Reveals His Will to Us
Wednesday, March 9, 2011
Look at the two disciples on the road to Emmaus, and you’ll discover how God speaks to us and gives us direction. They thought they’d seen the death of Jesus and His movement. Fearful and disillusioned, they packed their bags and headed for home, when suddenly Jesus appeared to them. How does the Lord reveal His will to us?

Stay On Your Own Lane
Saturday, February 26, 2011
In the 800 meters, runners must remain in their lanes until they pass through the first turn. In races of 1500 meters or longer run on a track, competitors are generally divided into two groups at the start, with approximately 65 percent of the runners on the regular, arced starting line and the remainder on a separate, arced starting line marked across the outer half of the track. The latter group must remain on the outer half of the track until they pass through the first turn.

Your weakness
Sunday, February 13, 2011
Your weakness can emerge at any time. What you allow to take root will grow within you. What you fail to master now, will master you later. Do not believe you have mastered your weaknesses unless God delivers you from them. If we continue to accommodate them – they will draw us towards the wrong things and set you up for defeat.
